The Sunrisers delivered an outstanding performance, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders by a significant margin of 110 runs, concluding IPL 2025 on a high note after their previous year's final disappointment. SRH posted an impressive total of 278 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with Henrik Klaasen standing out by scoring a brilliant century. Travis Head provided a rapid start at the top of the batting order, while Win Zidane and Nicholas Pooran's explosive hitting left KKR's bowlers struggling. The SRH batters maintained relentless pressure, ensuring that they kept scoring consistently. After scoring 281 in their opening match, SRH showcased their batting prowess once again, demonstrating their capabilities despite not qualifying for the playoffs. Their performance at both the beginning and end of the season highlighted their potential.
Following the match, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane shared his thoughts on the defeat and the overall season.
Rahane remarked, "SRH played exceptionally well, while we made several mistakes. They took advantage of our loose deliveries and capitalized on the good ones too. Their intent was commendable. We discussed strategies like taking pace off and bowling wide, but if the execution is lacking, batters like Klaasen will make you pay. Throughout the season, we had our moments, with a couple of close games that we didn't handle well. We gave our all, but in this format, staying alert is crucial. If we had seized those opportunities, we could have been in a better position. No regrets; everyone gave their best. We will return stronger next year."
With this convincing victory, SRH finished the season in 6th place with 13 points, ending on a three-match winning streak. In contrast, KKR faced challenges throughout the season, concluding in 8th place with only 12 points. Both teams had rocky starts, with Kolkata suffering heavy defeats in both their opening and final matches, while SRH made a strong comeback to finish their season positively.
